Although Covid had temporarily limited gatherings,  church building maintenance still needed to be done, as and when feasible, and one of these recent tasks was to empty the clock tower floors of various items of equipment.

So a call was put out for help, and work began 09:30 on a sat morning with  13 old Boys Brigade lads’ helping out, with Terry in the kitchen creating bacon butties and coffee. Masks were worn for COVID & HSE reasons as the removals were very dust raising,

The morning was rounded off with generous bacon butties and coffee served to all, together with grateful thanks.

 Jesus help us

There is a tradition within Christianity of meditative repetition in prayer. This prayer continues that tradition with the words,“Jesus help us”.     Lord, in every need let us come to You with humble trust saying, “Jesus, help us.”

In the times like these if our doubts, perplexities, and temptations, Jesus, help us.

In hours of loneliness, weariness, and trials, Jesus, help us.

When we face challenges that seem far beyond our personal strength and experience, Jesus help us.

When we feel impatient and our crosses irritate us, Jesus, help us.

When our hearts are cast down by failure at seeing no good come from our efforts, Jesus, help us.

In the failure of our plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles, and sorrows, Jesus, help us.

When we are ill and our head and hands cannot work and we are lonely, Jesus, help us.

When others fail us and Your grace alone can assist us, help us to throw ourselves on Your tender love. Jesus, help us.

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls, and shortcomings of every kind, Jesus, help us.

    Amen.
